First off, let me say, I am a Believer in the Awards shows: The Valley Gold, Oscars, Grammys, Emmys, NAACP Image, Golden Globe, Stellar, Dove, .... I say, 'Bring 'em on. Give people their flowers while they can smell them.'
Fo Sho, the Academy Awards has become some of the largest fashion shows on the planet, second only to Homecomings at Howard U / HBCU.)
Lately, my particular interest has been to see Ms. Robin Roberts - this year donning a champagne colored one shoulder brocade gown. Here's a woman in show biz who carries herself like a "Lady;" (truly a rare commodity today). She consistently brings her grace, intellect, good humor, and beauty to the Red Carpet and beyond.
My guess is that the Awards ratings fell sharply after the Red Carpet showcase ended. I resumed watching a movie on Netflix, knowing I can catch the Awards highlights later on. What about you?

From a Viewers Perspective: Though I wanted to see it all, I only saw the last half of the 2nd interview of Oprah featuring Iyanla Vanzant. First off let me say that I think both of these women are phenomenal: Lady O (as I like to refer to her), certainly for many things we all know of her, her impact is felt around the world. Iyanla, regardless of how far she may have fallen, has something that captured the attention of millions throughout the nation. She possessed the ability to communicate the virtues of 'relationship' which is important to everyone on some level. Now having said that, I found the 'chemistry' between the to women most interesting. In short, here's what I saw: When it was all said and done, Iyanla somewhat out of control because some things just seemed to defy explanation. Oprah, most graciously, accepting the evidence that the two women are not made of the same stuff, and consequently, never really able to play in the same sandbox. And in the end, viewers again see Lady O as the queen she really is, and Iyanla Vanzant was instantly propelled from the "working poor class" because, let's face it: she just wrote a book and talked about it on Oprah. O! that my troubles would end so well. Hey, do your thing ladies, I'm not mad at ya. From a Business Perspective: Oprah and her producers are soooo smart. Bad blood, Misunderstandings, Falls from Grace - all are golden opportunities, and they are not in the habit of dismissing opportunities. here.

Much ado about whether Lindsay Lohan will really go to jail. I think for many of my fans, the real question should be, 'where is Pookie or Sha Nay Nay, Waldorf or Betsy Ann?' What's the state of the young people in your own back yard? Dinah Lohan is quite capable of looking out for her interests. I doubt that she's cringing over the gasoline hikes, or shivering in the cold with protests against the senate bill to eliminate collective bargaining. Lindsay and Dinah are faced with nearly none of your concerns, and yet somehow we can be so immersed in theirs. So, today, if only for one day, don't rent any room in your head for foolishness. Okaaay?

Late May, 2010 I learned that the Queen of Talk, Lady O (Oprah) & King of Reality TV, Mark Burnette had teamed up to determine the next big TV Talk Show host for the OWN. Being the 'struggling' starlet that I am, I thought the OWN competition was certainly worth a try. So I threw my proverbial online audition in the ring. And over these past weeks, what I have learned is, "If you really want to see what lengths people will go to, let Oprah Winfrey hold a contest. WHEW!"
So now the votes are in and the Powers That Be are making choices. Whatever the outcome, I maintained my dignity, I was reminded of how much I am loved by so many, and hey,... I gave it my best shot. Mine was a valliant effort. I welcome your thoughts...
